"CPTED - Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design - has guided and perhaps inspired practitioners in architecture, planning, policing and community safety fpr several decades. But it is due for an overhaul. Over the next year or so Paul Ekblom is endeavouring to rebuild CPTED conceptually and scientifically, preserving the best whilst ensuring it becomes more fit for its essentially practical purpose. As part of this undertaking, he is informally consulting with practitioners, academics and others on the basis of a living document which a) details problems and limitations of CPTED and b) specifies the kind of features which a rebuilt CPTED should have if it is to do its job properly.
