Students

A list of student BA and MA projects linked with Design Against Crime or the MA Industrial Design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.

Liberty Fearns BA(Hons) Product Design, CSM
  Mai Torvits Dam
BA(Hons) Arts Design and Environment, CSM
Liberty spent the summer 2005 working for DAC and developing her Audi Design Foundation product. Liberty is taking a year out of her studies to take a 9 month work placement in the Audi Design Centre in Germany after winning Audi Designer of the Year 2004. Liberty's details. Mai's previous projects seek to address current topics in a playful nature. Her fictional campaign 'S.A.F.E' - Stay Away From Everyone' (2005) takes a humorous approach to how we use our senses in relation to one another when moving around the city.Mai's professional statement.

Jonathan Dodge Ismaril Wells
MA Industrial Design, CSM

Jonathan Dodge and Ismaril Wells from MA Industrial Design 2005-6, for their first year Design Against Crime project created a bag holding clip as a visual deterrent to theft, that would lend it self to cheap mass production, and possibly given away by responsible corporations and companies. the clip, aimed at tourists as well as commuters, who are often targeted by pickpockets when traveling, hold zips together and makes it less easy for the pickpocket to open bags. The aim of the design is to slow down the thief, and to communicate that bag owner is thinking thief, hence the title 'DipOff!'.
The design is currently available for licensing, and in 2006-7 will be subject to live user testing trials, sponsored by British Transport Police.
