Val is currently a Senior Lecturer in Design and also the Academic Course Co-ordinator for the BA Graphic Design course at Central Saint Martins. She has also led both the MA Communication Design programme and the PgCert in Animation at CSM. Val has a background in print design and has been involved in several Design Against Crime projects from its earliest days. She has also initiated several CSM international collaborative research projects including ‘Dependence Daze’ with the USA, and the EU-funded ‘City and Art’ project in Istanbul. Val is also a counter-cultural ‘muso’ and involved in the ‘Family of Rock’ and Wayne Hemmingway’s ‘Vintage’ organisations, in order to promote the importance of our popular musical heritage. Val is also a long-serving DJ on the UK northern soul scene and can often be spotted lugging her record box around on the night bus.
