This project was run with BA Product Design students at Central Saint Martins in 2012. It asked the designers to work with Camden Council’s sustainability team and Camden residents to collaboratively design innovations and/or services that themselves are locally and collaboratively delivered to facilitate behaviours and ways of living that reduce carbon emissions and contribute to the achievement of a new vision for a sustainable, low carbon Camden. And, in so doing, to explore what public services could become if, instead of offering final services to individual, passive end-users, they would be conceived as platforms to trigger, enable and support citizens’ active and collaborative behaviours.
